Gentle Patches is committed to making gentlepatches.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or keyboard-only navigation.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
What we do
- Our store runs on the Shopify platform and a theme built to Shopify's accessibility requirements, including keyboard-accessible navigation, visible focus states, semantic headings and form labels.
- We aim to provide alternative text for product and content images.
- We aim to keep text and background colors within WCAG contrast ratios and to keep pages usable when zoomed to 200 percent.
- Checkout is provided by Shopify and is designed to be operable by keyboard and screen readers.
- We review accessibility when we change the website.
Known limitations
Some parts of the website are provided by third parties, such as product review widgets, embedded videos, pop-up sign-up forms, live chat and social media content. We choose partners who state a commitment to accessibility, but we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets the standard above. Older PDF or image-based content may not be fully accessible. If you encounter a barrier, the alternatives below are available.
Alternatives and help
If any part of the website, including ordering, is difficult for you to use, we will help you complete your purchase or find the information you need by another route.
- Email support@gentlepatches.com with the subject line "Accessibility". We usually respond within one business day.
- Ask us to take your order or answer your product questions by email.
- Ask us for the content of any page in an accessible format.
Feedback
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of gentlepatches.com. Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. We review accessibility reports promptly and will tell you what we are doing about the issue.
Enforcement and formal complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the relevant authority in your country. In the United States, the Americans with Disabilities Act is enforced by the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. In the United Kingdom, the Equality Advisory and Support Service gives advice on complaints under the Equality Act 2010. In the European Union, online shops are covered by the European Accessibility Act; contact the market surveillance authority in your member state.
